Laura Santini

Biography

Born in Milano, Italy.  Immigrated to Montreal, QC in 1976.  Graduated with a BA, Art History, McGill University; an MFA from New York University.  Followed by further sculpture studies in Toronto, London, Paris, and Italy.  Santini’s work has participated in numerous exhibitions. Her commissioned work is included in private and public collections in Canada, USA, and Europe. Her studios are based in Montreal and Milano, Italy.

Artist Statement

My work deals with common, everyday, and organic objects. I often transfer them into more durable materials – stacking and assembling them into repetitive combinations. By selecting and isolating an object, I begin to see a new language of expression. I am attracted to common and familiar things and the possibility of the disappearance of the original object themselves or their usage.
